This is the fourth year that we have received a Faith Commitment Offering for missions.
First, consider the word FAITH. This pledge and offering is "by faith," not "by sight." You pledge based on what you can trust God will provide for you to give. You make this promise in FAITH that God will provide the money, perhaps through your work, perhaps by your special effort, perhaps through some unusual means. Your pledge is "Lord, please provide this money so I may give to share Jesus Christ with the world."
Next, consider the word COMMITMENT. You are committing to God that if He wil provide the money, you will give your offering to support missionaries who preach Jesus in Peru, Guatemala, Niger, Belgium, and in a hundred other countries around the world. You'll also give to support missionaries who preach Jesus in Durham, NC - to the released prisioner, the abused woman, the neglected child, the unwed mother.
Our pledges are never signed or identified by name. They are pledges between each individual and his or her Lord. Our goal for 2004-2005 is $70,000. As of July 14, 2004, $70,213 has been pledged!
