Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Well, I’m moving toward my two-year mark here on the field. Can hardly believe it. It seems to have gone by so quickly.  I have lots to be thankful for. God is so good. I pray that you have felt the goodness of God as well as you seek to draw close to Him and to serve Him.

I have so appreciated your prayers. Please keep them coming. I can say honestly that this is the best job I’ve ever had, but it’s also the toughest. I am in great need of your prayers all the time!! Let me share with you some things to pray for and to praise God for. If you don’t have time to read the letter now, please skip to the urgent prayer need below. Thank you.

Praise and Prayer:

I am still leading a women’s Bible study and the women have decided to meet two times a week since one day is not enough. YES!! This shows that they are hungry for the knowledge of God. What a wonderful praise.

In this same group, one of the ladies came to trust Christ as her Saviour last Monday. She committed her life to God on Monday evening and when I met with her Wednesday afternoon, she had already shared her new faith with a lost friend that very morning. God is at work!! Please pray that God would continue to grow her. I’m hoping for a chance to work with her more for discipleship. Please also pray for her about baptism. I hope she will be able to be baptized soon!!

Another praise related to this. The evening when she gave her life to Christ, my regular translator could not help me. Since we have moved to two days, he can only come one day. So on Mondays I teach in French and one of the ladies’ translates for me. But I wanted this lady to be able to pray in her native tongue – Russian. A guy at our center, who speaks Russian, but not a believer, overheard me asking for someone to translate and offered. So an unbeliever translated the prayer of salvation. Then the following Wednesday, he approached me and asked if I needed any translating. So I asked him if he’d like to come and be my translator on Mondays and he agreed. Isn’t that great! God has plans that we don’t even know about. Please pray for him that God would draw him through translating. Also, I’m hoping he will bring his mother, also not a believer, to the studies.

URGENT PRAYER:

Please pray for G. He loves God, reads the Bible, and goes to church when he’s not working, but has never put his trust in Christ. He has no assurance of salvation. I talked with him and he realizes that something is missing. I am hoping that this Wednesday he will be able to talk with one of our team who speaks Russian, so he can share with him in his own language. Please pray that this meeting would take place. Pray specifically that God would open his eyes to understand his need for salvation. Pray for the one sharing that God would speak through him. He is going to be moving to another city on Thursday and so we may not see him again. Pray that he would put his trust in Christ this week. Pray also that God would lead him to believers in the city where he goes, so that he might grow in his new faith. (I’m trusting God for this man’s soul!!!)

Please continue to pray for all those that come to our center. We don’t know how long they will be there and want to make the most of opportunities. Pray that God would be working in their hearts and using us – his vessels – to bring a message of hope and peace.

Thank you again for your prayers. May you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day knowing that the One who loves you most is God. We know that love comes from Him, and the reason we can even love is because of Him.

Joyfully serving my Lord and God!!

Blessings,

Jan
