Closed Fist,

Open Hand

Malachi 3:8-12;

Luke 6:37-38

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Attitudes that prevent giving

  • Greed:  I selfishly desire to keep all I have.
  • Ignorance:  I simply don’t know what God asks.
  • Extravagance:  My lifestyle takes everything.
  • Fear:  This is the really common issue for God’s people.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The CONSCIOUS reason many Christians don’t give is FEAR.

  • Fear that I won’t be able to pay my bills.
  • Fear that I won’t have enough for my needs.
  • Fear that God won’t take care of me and my family.
  • Let’s be honest—FEAR THAT GOD IS LYING TO ME WHEN HE PROMISES THAT I CAN TRUST HIM WITH MY FINANCES.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is our goal today?

To help YOU to be set free from all

bondage in the area of giving to God!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The principle of Reciprocity

God is a giver and gives to us

in faith & gratitude, we give to God

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Malachi 3:8-12

  • Israel’s sin: failure to honor God with tithes
  • God’s response: you are robbing Me!
  • God’s challenge: TEST Me and see what happens!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Malachi 3:8-12

God’s promise:

  • I will…throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
  • I will prevent pests from devouring crops
  • your vines will not cast their fruit
  • Then all the nations will call you blessed
  • yours will be a delightful land

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luke 6:37-38

The Principle of Reciprocity

  • MERCY
  • GIVING

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What does God want you to do?

God wants you to develop an
